Dr Vesna Vučić is a Principal Research Fellow at the Institute for Medical Research, National Institute of Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade. She is Head of the Department for Nutritional Biochemistry and Dietology, Centre of Research Excellence in Nutrition and Metabolism at the Institute. Dr Vucic received her PhD in Biochemistry and physiology from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, where she has lectured Clinical Lipidology at doctoral studies for 8 years. Besides experience in basic cancer research, her primary area of interest is the research of relationships between nutrition, dietary supplements and health, with an emphasis on lipids and low-grade inflammation. She was a PI or a co-investigator in several clinical trials investigating the effects of fatty acids and herbal bioactives in inflammatory diseases, and supervised 6 doctoral dissertations. She has established a strong network with relevant clinical and research institutions from collaborative projects in Serbia and abroad. She was involved and led work packages and tasks in several national and EU-funded projects and published over 75 articles in ISI journals. According to Scopus, her number of citations is 1000+ and Hirsch-index is 20. She is a mother of two teenagers.
