1st Edition of the Advanced Course in Advanced Models for Predictive Toxicology

It will be held in FFUL on the 25th – 27th of November, and 19th of December 2025(for assessment purposes).

This course brings together an outstanding lineup of international and national experts in the field of in silico, in vitro and in vivo models, covering the role of advanced models across diverse fields, from drug discovery to translational research. It offers a systematic progression, from in silico to advanced in vitro systems (e.g., 3D cultures, microphysiological systems) and moving through emerging in vivo approaches (including zebrafish, humanized animals, and avatar/PDX), culminating in personalized and predictive toxicology solutions that integrate non-clinical data.

Highlights include:

• Krzysztof Wrzesinski (CellVivo, DK), Sandra Tenreiro (NOVA NMS, PT), Margarida Diogo (IST.ULisboa, PT), Bojana Zegura (National Institute of Biology, SI), Sérgio Camões (FFUL, PT), Joana Miranda (FFUL, PT) and Madalena Cipriano (UTuebingen, DE ) focusing on Advanced in vitro systems in safety assessment

  • Emerging in vivo models will be presented by Ihsan Gürsel and Gülçin Akdogan (IBG, TK), Rita Fior (FChampalimaud, PT) and Javier Cubero (University Complutense of Madrid, ES)
  • Pau Sancho-Bru (IDIBAPS, ES), Leonard Nelson (Edinburgh Napier University, UK), Rita Guedes, FFUL, PT) and Tiago Rodrigues (FFUL, PT) on bioinformatic tools and Personalized and predictive toxicology

This Advanced Course promises to be a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts and engage in discussions that bridge basic science with clinical applications in drug discovery.
